Exodus 24:3Moses came and told the people all the words of Yahweh, and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, “All the words which Yahweh has spoken will we do.”Exodus 24:4Moses wrote all the words of Yahweh, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.Exodus 24:5He sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of cattle to Yahweh.1 Kings 12:6King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me to return answer to this people?”1 Kings 12:7They spoke to him, saying, “If you will be a servant to this people this day, and will serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”1 Kings 12:8But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.1 Kings 12:9He said to them, “What counsel do you give, that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Make the yoke that your father put on us lighter?’”1 Kings 12:10The young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, “Thus you shall tell this people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter to us;’ you shall say to them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.1 Kings 12:11Now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.’”1 Kings 12:12So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king asked, saying, “Come to me again the third day.”1 Kings 12:13The king answered the people roughly, and forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him,1 Kings 12:14and spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:Proverbs 1:22“How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?Proverbs 1:23Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.Proverbs 1:24Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;Proverbs 1:25but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;Proverbs 1:26I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you;Proverbs 1:27when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come on you.Proverbs 1:28Then will they call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me;Proverbs 1:29because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of Yahweh.Proverbs 1:30They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.Proverbs 1:31Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.Proverbs 1:32For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.Proverbs 1:33But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”Proverbs 2:1My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you;Proverbs 2:2So as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;Proverbs 2:3Yes, if you call out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding;Proverbs 2:4If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures:Proverbs 2:5then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and find the knowledge of God.Proverbs 2:6For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.Proverbs 2:7He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity;Proverbs 2:8that he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints.Proverbs 2:9Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.Proverbs 2:10For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
