MINISTRY TRAINING · MODULE 11 · UNIT 1 OF 4
Money Is a Stewardship Responsibility
Study passage: 2 Corinthians 8:20-21. Read the whole surrounding chapter before relying on this unit.
Teaching and interpretation
Paul describes taking care to do what is right in the sight of others as well as the Lord. Donation processing needs documented roles, access controls, reconciliation and reliable records. A ministry should not imply a gift purchases spiritual status or greater access to prayer. Separate the pastor's spiritual authority from unilateral control of finances.
Pastoral case to discuss
A pastor uses a single personal payment account for ministry funds and refuses any review. What controls are missing?
Describe the relevant facts and what you would still need to know. Do not present assumptions as the person's motives, diagnose a disorder or make unverified claims about Scripture.
Required practical exercise
Create a basic gifts-and-expenses ledger outline with monthly reconciliation and reviewer signatures.
Support your answers with passages in context and distinguish biblical teaching, historical interpretation, modern professional standards and personal judgment. Keep real people's details confidential.
