MINISTRY TRAINING · MODULE 11 · UNIT 4 OF 4
Reporting, Audits and Donations
Study passage: Proverbs 11:1. Read the whole surrounding chapter before relying on this unit.
Teaching and interpretation
Financial honesty includes accurate receipts, realistic fundraising claims, secure payment handling and timely correction of mistakes. A church should distinguish charity registration, tax exemption and accreditation; none is interchangeable. Never label gifts tax-deductible without the proper legal basis. Refer detailed tax and compliance questions to qualified professionals.
Pastoral case to discuss
The ministry website describes donations as tax deductible but cannot verify tax-exempt status. What immediate public correction is necessary?
Describe the relevant facts and what you would still need to know. Do not present assumptions as the person's motives, diagnose a disorder or make unverified claims about Scripture.
Required practical exercise
Prepare a plain-English financial transparency page that distinguishes verified facts, intentions and uncertainties.
Support your answers with passages in context and distinguish biblical teaching, historical interpretation, modern professional standards and personal judgment. Keep real people's details confidential.
