MINISTRY TRAINING · MODULE 15 · UNIT 2 OF 4
Service Without Conditional Aid
Study passage: James 2:15-17. Read the whole surrounding chapter before relying on this unit.
Teaching and interpretation
Food, medical assistance or safety services should not depend on signing a religious statement or joining a church. Compassion offered as leverage is not free consent. Clarify program eligibility, privacy, finances, referral pathways and who decides priorities. Assistance needs evidence of actual need, not photo opportunities.
Pastoral case to discuss
A charity says families must attend a conversion service before receiving essential food. How should the team review the policy?
Describe the relevant facts and what you would still need to know. Do not present assumptions as the person's motives, diagnose a disorder or make unverified claims about Scripture.
Required practical exercise
Draft an aid policy that separates voluntary spiritual conversation from basic services and prohibits coercion.
Support your answers with passages in context and distinguish biblical teaching, historical interpretation, modern professional standards and personal judgment. Keep real people's details confidential.
