Choose and Study One Passage
Study passage: Mark 4:35-41. Read the whole surrounding chapter before relying on this unit.
Teaching and interpretation
Begin with a bounded text rather than a motivational topic for which verses are later selected. Read what comes before and after, identify the narrative question, and write down what the passage does not say. Good sermons often have fewer claims, each better supported. A listener should be able to open the chapter and see why the preacher reached a conclusion.
Pastoral case to discuss
A teacher promises that faith will prevent every storm because Jesus calms one storm. Where does the narrative support trust, and where does the application go beyond the text?
Describe the relevant facts and what you would still need to know. Do not present assumptions as the person's motives, diagnose a disorder or make unverified claims about Scripture.
Required practical exercise
Draft a one-page passage worksheet with observations, central claim and two common misreadings.
Support your answers with passages in context and distinguish biblical teaching, historical interpretation, modern professional standards and personal judgment. Keep real people's details confidential.
