MINISTRY TRAINING · MODULE 5 · UNIT 4 OF 4

Future Hope and Present Responsibility

Study passage: Revelation 21:1-5. Read the whole surrounding chapter before relying on this unit.

Teaching and interpretation

New-creation language has comforted Christian communities facing loss and injustice. It must not be used to minimize present suffering, refuse needed medical treatment, or abandon responsibility for neighbors. Examine how the hope of renewal intersects with practical care now, and distinguish major end-times traditions without elevating one speculative chart above the text.

Pastoral case to discuss

Someone tells a grieving family that Christian hope means they must stop crying. What does a careful reading allow the pastor to say?

Describe the relevant facts and what you would still need to know. Do not present assumptions as the person's motives, diagnose a disorder or make unverified claims about Scripture.

Required practical exercise

Construct a pastoral response that includes lament, resurrection hope and practical support.

Support your answers with passages in context and distinguish biblical teaching, historical interpretation, modern professional standards and personal judgment. Keep real people's details confidential.
