Genesis 17:15God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but her name will be Sarah.Genesis 17:16I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her. Yes, I will bless her, and she will be a mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her.”Genesis 17:17Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?”Genesis 17:18Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before you!”Genesis 17:19God said, “No, but Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. When he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,Genesis 18:3and said, “My lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, please don’t go away from your servant.Genesis 18:4Now let a little water be fetched, wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.Genesis 18:5I will get a morsel of bread so you can refresh your heart. After that you may go your way, now that you have come to your servant.” They said, “Very well, do as you have said.”Genesis 18:6Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Quickly prepare three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.”Genesis 18:7Abraham ran to the herd, and fetched a tender and good calf, and gave it to the servant. He hurried to dress it.Genesis 18:8He took butter, milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them. He stood by them under the tree, and they ate.Genesis 18:9They asked him, “Where is Sarah, your wife?” He said, “See, in the tent.”Genesis 18:10He said, “I will certainly return to you when the season comes round. Behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.” Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.Genesis 18:11Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.Genesis 18:12Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”Genesis 18:13Yahweh said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Will I really bear a child, yet I am old?’Genesis 18:14Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes round, and Sarah will have a son.”Genesis 18:15Then Sarah denied, saying, “I didn’t laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”Genesis 21:1Yahweh visited Sarah as he had said, and Yahweh did to Sarah as he had spoken.Genesis 21:2Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.Genesis 21:3Abraham called his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.Genesis 21:4Abraham circumcised his son, Isaac, when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.Genesis 21:5Abraham was one hundred years old when his son, Isaac, was born to him.Genesis 21:6Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me.”Genesis 21:7She said, “Who would have said to Abraham, that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.”Genesis 21:8The child grew, and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.Genesis 21:12God said to Abraham, “Don’t let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your handmaid. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For from Isaac will your seed be called.Genesis 22:1It happened after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”Genesis 22:2He said, “Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there for a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”Genesis 22:3Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.Genesis 22:4On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.Genesis 22:5Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go yonder. We will worship, and come back to you.”Genesis 22:6Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.Genesis 22:7Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, “My father?” He said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”Genesis 22:8Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.Genesis 22:9They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.Genesis 22:10Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.Genesis 22:11The angel of Yahweh called to him out of the sky, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”Genesis 22:12He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy, neither do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”Genesis 22:13Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.Genesis 22:14Abraham called the name of that place Yahweh Will Provide. As it is said to this day, “On Yahweh’s mountain, it will be provided.”Genesis 22:15The angel of Yahweh called to Abraham a second time out of the sky,Genesis 22:16and said, “I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,Genesis 22:17that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your seed greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your seed will possess the gate of his enemies.Genesis 22:18In your seed will all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”Genesis 22:19So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba. Abraham lived at Beersheba.Genesis 24:62Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he lived in the land of the South.Genesis 24:63Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the evening. She said, “If it be so, why do I live?” She went to inquire of Yahweh.Genesis 25:23Yahweh said to her, “Two nations are in your womb. Two peoples will be separated from your body. The one people will be stronger than the other people. The elder will serve the younger.”Genesis 25:24When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
