Matthew 3:7But when John saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his place of baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?Matthew 3:8Produce fruit, then, in keeping with repentance.Matthew 3:9And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.Matthew 3:10The axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.Matthew 6:2So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. They do not wash their hands before they eat.”Matthew 15:3Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?Matthew 15:4For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’Matthew 15:5But you say that if anyone says to his father or mother, ‘Whatever you would have received from me is a gift devoted to God,’Matthew 15:6he need not honor his father or mother with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.Matthew 15:7You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you:Matthew 15:8‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.Matthew 15:9They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’”Matthew 15:12Then the disciples came to Him and said, “Are You aware that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?”Matthew 16:1Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came and tested Jesus by asking Him to show them a sign from heaven.Matthew 16:2But He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘The weather will be fair, for the sky is red,’Matthew 16:3and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but not the signs of the times.Matthew 16:4A wicked and adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.” Then He left them and went away.Matthew 16:5When they crossed to the other side, the disciples forgot to take bread.Matthew 16:6“Watch out!” Jesus told them. “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”Matthew 16:7They discussed this among themselves and concluded, “It is because we did not bring any bread.”Matthew 16:8Aware of their conversation, Jesus said, “You of little faith, why are you debating among yourselves about having no bread?Matthew 16:9Do you still not understand? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?Matthew 16:10Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?Matthew 16:11How do you not understand that I was not telling you about bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”Matthew 16:12Then they understood that He was not telling them to beware of the leaven used in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.Matthew 19:3Then some Pharisees came and tested Him by asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”Matthew 21:33Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a tower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.Matthew 21:34When the harvest time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit.Matthew 21:35But the tenants seized his servants. They beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.Matthew 21:36Again, he sent other servants, more than the first group. But the tenants did the same to them.Matthew 21:37Finally, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.Matthew 21:38But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance.’Matthew 21:39So they seized him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.Matthew 21:40Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard returns, what will he do to those tenants?”Matthew 21:41“He will bring those wretches to a wretched end,” they replied, “and will rent out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his share of the fruit at harvest time.”Matthew 21:42Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?
