Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,Matthew 15:8‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.Matthew 15:9And in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’”Matthew 15:12Then the disciples came, and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?”Matthew 16:1The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.Matthew 16:2But he answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’Matthew 16:3In the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you can’t discern the signs of the times!Matthew 16:4An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” He left them, and departed.Matthew 16:5The disciples came to the other side and had forgotten to take bread.Matthew 16:6Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”Matthew 16:7They reasoned among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.”Matthew 16:8Jesus, perceiving it, said, “Why do you reason among yourselves, you of little faith, ‘because you have brought no bread?’Matthew 16:9Don’t you yet perceive, neither remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?Matthew 16:10Nor the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?Matthew 16:11How is it that you don’t perceive that I didn’t speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”Matthew 16:12Then they understood that he didn’t tell them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.Matthew 19:3Pharisees came to him, testing him, and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”Matthew 21:33“Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household, who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country.Matthew 21:34When the season for the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, to receive his fruit.Matthew 21:35The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.Matthew 21:36Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they treated them the same way.Matthew 21:37But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’Matthew 21:38But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and seize his inheritance.’Matthew 21:39So they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.Matthew 21:40When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?”Matthew 21:41They told him, “He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers, who will give him the fruit in its season.”Matthew 21:42Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes?’
