Acts 13:27The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning Him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.Acts 13:28And though they found no ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have Him executed.Acts 13:29When they had carried out all that was written about Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb.Acts 13:30But God raised Him from the dead,Acts 13:31and for many days He was seen by those who had accompanied Him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now His witnesses to our people.Acts 13:32And now we proclaim to you the good news: What God promised our fathersActs 13:33He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.’Acts 13:34In fact, God raised Him from the dead, never to see decay. As He has said: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’Acts 13:35So also, He says in another Psalm: ‘You will not let Your Holy One see decay.’Acts 13:36For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep. His body was buried with his fathers and saw decay.Acts 13:37But the One whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.Acts 13:38Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.Acts 13:39Through Him everyone who believes is justified from everything from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.Acts 13:40Watch out, then, that what was spoken by the prophets does not happen to you:Acts 13:41‘Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish! Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries in the Spirit.1 Corinthians 14:3But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, encouragement, and comfort.1 Corinthians 14:4The one who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.1 Corinthians 14:5I wish that all of you could speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be edified.1 Corinthians 14:6Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching?1 Corinthians 14:7Even in the case of lifeless instruments, such as the flute or harp, how will anyone recognize the tune they are playing unless the notes are distinct?1 Corinthians 14:8Again, if the trumpet sounds a muffled call, who will prepare for battle?1 Corinthians 14:9So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air.1 Corinthians 14:10Assuredly, there are many different languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning.1 Corinthians 14:11If, then, I do not know the meaning of someone’s language, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and he is a foreigner to me.1 Corinthians 14:12It is the same with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, strive to excel in gifts that build up the church.1 Corinthians 14:13Therefore, the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.1 Corinthians 14:14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.1 Corinthians 14:15What then shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind. I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.1 Corinthians 14:16Otherwise, if you speak a blessing in spirit, how can someone who is uninstructed say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?1 Corinthians 14:17You may be giving thanks well enough, but the other one is not edified.1 Corinthians 14:18I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.1 Corinthians 14:19But in the church, I would rather speak five coherent words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.1 Corinthians 14:20Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.1 Corinthians 14:24But if an unbeliever or uninstructed person comes in while everyone is prophesying, he will be convicted and called to account by all,1 Corinthians 14:25and the secrets of his heart will be made known. So he will fall facedown and worship God, proclaiming, “God is truly among you!”2 Corinthians 2:14But thanks be to God, who always leads us triumphantly as captives in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.2 Corinthians 2:15For we are to God the sweet aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.
