(d) Features in which the language of the Moabite Stone differs from the Hebrew of OT.
(a) 72x ᾽ΝΚ for ‘I’ without the final » Y of the Heb. ‘23x. As elsewhere the Stone always expresses the silent consonant of final vowels, 73x can scarcely be ‘23% written defectively. The same form is found in Phen., JZ, s.v.
(8) The feminine singular ends in ἢ instead of 7 as in Hebrew.
(y) The plural is formed by Nun, as in Aramaic and Arabic, instead of by Mem, as in OT Heb. Ἰσὺν 2, 13 4, jor 5, 31 5, yam 8. So occa- sionally in OT.
(δ) The form nv 2, 8, ShTh for Heb. naw ‘ year,’ as in Neopunic inscriptions (LZ, p. 379).
(e) In uy 5, ‘and he humiliated,’ and uyx 6, ‘and I humiliated,’ the last radical is apparently a Waw with full consonantal force, whereas the corresponding radical in Heb. is a silent He.
(ὃ The affix for ‘his,’ ‘him,’ is 7. asx 6, mpabm 6, 732 6, 8, 32 7, an32) 7, ΠΌ 8, etc., as occasionally in Heb., e.g. bax ‘his tent,’ Gn 92 (see Ges.-Kautzsch, § 91 e).

eing transposed, 8 transposition only occurring in Heb. when the first radical is a sibilant. This transposition, however, regularly occurs for all first radicals in the Arabic 8th conj. igtatala, which is equivalent in sense to the Heb. Hithpa‘el. See, further, Driver, Sam. xciii.
(:) The inscription belongs to the primitive stage of Hebrew writing, in which doubtless most of the OT books were originally written, in which the scriptio defectiva was used, and no distinction was

made between medial and final letters of alphabet. Silent consonants, however, are used for vowels, ‘2x ‘my father,’ 1. 2; 13=Heb. 13, ete. ; in the affixes, o7°(?), 1. 18; π', 1. 22; and in j2", 23".
(x) The following words, in addition to proper names, do not occur in the OT: mvx, 1. 9; mn, 1. 12; mop, 1. 25 from Heb. ./m3; pr (ἢ), 1. 34.
