MINISTRY TRAINING · MODULE 3 · UNIT 2 OF 4
Acts and Community Leadership
Study passage: Acts 15:1-21. Read the whole surrounding chapter before relying on this unit.
Teaching and interpretation
Acts describes communities learning to manage disagreement, mission and questions about who belongs. The Jerusalem gathering is not a blueprint for every modern church meeting, but it shows evidence, testimony, scriptural reasoning and a practical decision. Ask whose voices were present and whose were missing. A modern church must also follow applicable governance and safeguarding law.
Pastoral case to discuss
Two groups dispute membership expectations. How can leaders design a hearing in which concerns are heard and authority is not simply asserted?
Describe the relevant facts and what you would still need to know. Do not present assumptions as the person's motives, diagnose a disorder or make unverified claims about Scripture.
Required practical exercise
Draft an agenda for a fair discussion with documented evidence, dissent, conflict disclosure and next-step communication.
Support your answers with passages in context and distinguish biblical teaching, historical interpretation, modern professional standards and personal judgment. Keep real people's details confidential.
