MODULE 13 · Care and safeguarding

Children's Ministry, Youth Teaching and Family Discipleship

Teaching children requires age-appropriate Scripture engagement, a clear safeguarding policy, consent, learning activities and honest communication with families. The goal is not to pressure young people into public religious performances but to help them understand and ask thoughtful questions. Youth workers must know their reporting responsibilities and limits.

Four teaching units

UNIT 1 · SCRIPTURE: Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Teaching Across Development

UNIT 2 · SCRIPTURE: Matthew 18:5-6

Classroom Safety and Consent

Safety begins with actual policy: appropriate adult ratios, transparent spaces, training, permitted communication channels, check-in and pickup procedures, incident documentation and relevant screening. Children should not be alone with unsupervised adult volunteers. Leaders must follow reporting duties and involve qualified professionals…

UNIT 3 · SCRIPTURE: Mark 9:24

Questions About Faith and Doubt

A teen asking why a story is believable may be exploring the evidence and trustworthiness of adults. Listen for the real question and distinguish what the biblical author says from later interpretation. Explain when sources disagree rather than dismiss a student as rebellious. Curiosity can coexist with sincere Christian practice.…

Do not post children's photos, testimonies or names without appropriate permission. Keep communication factual and consider accessibility for c…
