SELF-STUDY FOCUS · NOT A SEPARATE CREDENTIAL
Children, Families & Youth Ministry
Youth ministry requires age-appropriate teaching and much more: safe spaces, transparent adult supervision, parental communication, consent and legally adequate reporting. A lesson plan that engages children is not a substitute for an approved safeguarding process.
Who may benefit
For parents, Sunday-school teachers, youth volunteers and ministry organizers.
Read these modules in sequence
STEP 1 · Biblical foundations
Pastoral teaching must begin by listening carefully to a passage before using it to support a conclusion. This module teaches observation, genre, context, responsible comparison of translations, and the difference between a text's claim and the teacher's inference. Stud…

Original practical assignment
Write a twenty-minute lesson based on Luke 10 for two different age groups, noting vocabulary, discussion questions and practical activities. Separately produce an event safety plan that covers volunteer screening, supervision, transportation, photography, public and private communication, incident response and mandatory reporting in the relevant jurisdiction.
Use the selected modules' formal assignment pages to store original student work. A submitted artifact is private and remains awaiting human review; it is not automatically accepted.
How competence would need to be assessed
A local safeguarding coordinator must review policies, supervision suitability and background-screening requirements before a student works with minors.
Limits: Do not permit unsupervised child or vulnerable-adult access merely because an online module was passed.
Supplement with historical primary sources
Historic Christian authors sometimes agree and sometimes contradict one another. Read their actual editions and observe what is interpretation rather than quoting a slogan without context. Choose a guided reading path or search the historical book catalog.
